Choosing a genre means we will use your data to compile average response times for submittees, which will lead to helpful lists that will be made available to everyone for free (for example, Quick Submittees for Poetry).

It also means we will automatically tag all your pieces by the genre you select. But this tag can easily be removed and other tags can still be placed when you work outside of your primary genre.
