We're striving to make the best tool on the internet for the serious writer who needs to keep track of everything.
Everything you're keeping in a spreadsheet, a notebook, or a box of index cards can be kept on this website, where all that information will become interactive.
Scroll through the images below for a quick tour of what you can do as a Submittr!
Then sign up by filling out the registration form -- we'll contact you about how to complete your registration. Our service is $30/year. Thank you for visiting.Join Us!
We automatically keep track of your pieces by what's published and unpublished, but you can organize your pieces by tags as well. In this picture, pieces are tagged by manuscript title and genre. You could also tag pieces by what's new, by what's commonly sent out together, and anything else that helps you.
Click on a piece and see all the details the site collects, like all the magazines that have considered that piece so far.
Enter a Submission
As you prepare a submission, you can filter by tags, making things as simple and clean as possible.
No More Mistakes
Never accidentally submit a piece to the same place twice! Only simultaneously submit if you want to! And if you make a mistake, we'll let you know.
Once you have created submissions, view them on their own page. We'll sort them by their status, and you can enter tags for them as well. They might be tagged by whether the pieces went to a press, a magazine, an anthology, or a contest.
Updating a Submission
When you hear back about a submission, update it and add any notes that might be helpful.
As much as we'll help with your ongoing and past submissions, we'll also help you plan future submissions by making helpful lists of Submittees for you. Submittees who have accepted your work in the past, Submittees who invited you to submit again, and more!
Then you can click on a Submittee and see your history with them. As more and more people use Submittrs, we'll show a global average response time along with the average response time for your submissions.
Last, but certainly not least, we're striving to be as mobile friendly as possible. Here are two screenshots of how the website looks on an iPhone. All the pop-up windows that were pictured above will open as new windows on mobile devices, so you can create or update a submission anywhere you have internet access.
- We want to make it easy to get started so we've added tools to import your data from CSV format (which you can output from spreadsheet software like Excel or Google Sheets).
- We've added an export feature so that you can download your data as a spreadsheet.
- We've also added the ability to backup your data in machine-readable format (JSON) so that it can maintain the complex relationships that help make Submittrs so much better than a spreadsheet.
- Let us help you keep track of your profits and expenses! The new Ledger tool makes it easy to track fees and earnings associated with your submissions.
We're always looking toward the future. We want to add features that help you create your CV, prepare applications for grants, and suggest magazines that might be a good fit for your work based on where you've published. We're excited to hear your feedback about what you want so we can make this the very best tool for writers!
